Italian Highlights Including Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre

Experience the Italian culture and beauty in a more personal, small group way.  Europe Your Own Way invites you to join us!  Itinerary starts and ends in Rome with stops including wine tasting, cooking classes and beautiful medieval towns along the way.  This is designed as a 16 day/15 night trip but can be customized for a longer or shorter experience.  We can also adjust the itinerary based on your interests.

Itinerary:   

Day 1 (Sat) – Rome arrival. Travel to Cinque Terre (Monterosso) for 2 nights.
Day 2 (Sun) – Cinque Terre hike (those not interested in the hike can explore the towns).
Day 3 (Mon) – Drive from Cinque Terre to Pisa for a quick visit and then on to Florence, where we stay for 2 nights.
Day 4 (Tues) – Florence (including guided walking tour and skip-the-line admission to the Accademia Gallery (Statue of David))
Day 5 (Weds) – Chianti region including San Gimignano and visit to organic farm for tour/lunch with balsamic vinegar and wine pairings. End in Siena where we stay for 2 nights.
Day 6 (Thurs) – Explore Siena on foot with a self-guided walking tour.
Day 7 (Fri) – Drive to Umbria for a cooking class/lunch. Visit the beautiful town of Spello and end in Perugia for the night.
Day 8 (Sat) – Short visit of Perugia and then drive to Adriatic Coast, ending in Vasto, where we ‘ll stay for 2 nights.
Day 9 (Sun) – Visit Vasto and the surrounding towns on the Adriatic Coast.
Day 10 (Mon) – Drive to Paestum to visit the Greek ruins of the Temple of Athena, then drive to the Amalfi Coast, where we’ll stay in Cetara for one night.
Day 11 (Tues) – Spend the day driving along the famous Amalfi Coast with visits to Ravello, Amalfi, Agerola (limoncello and mozzarella factories), Positano. End in Sorrento where we stay for 3 nights.
Day 12 (Weds) – Ferry from Sorrento to Capri. Also visit Anacapri by hiking or cable car. Optional visit to the Blue Grotto.
Day 13 (Thurs) – Optional visit to Pompeii, or alternatively, spend more time exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.
Day 14 (Fri) – Drive to Tivoli to visit the beautiful fountains and gardens at Villa d’Este. End the day in Rome, where we stay for 2 nights.
Day 15 (Sat) – Rome guided walking tour of the historic center plus skip the line entrance to the Colosseum, visit to the Vatican/Sistine Chapel.
Day 16 (Sun) – Rome departure

Includes: 15 nights accommodation (3 nights in Sorrento (Amalfi Coast); 2 nights in each of Monterosso (Cinque Terre), Florence, Siena, Vasto (Adriatic Coast) and Rome; 1 night in each of Perugia and Cetara), 3 meals per day (snacks/drinks outside of meals not included), all transportation other than the transatlantic flights (includes car rentals, train/ferry fares, gas, tolls and parking), cooking class, cinque terre park entrance fees, factory visits – limoncello and mozzarella, visit to Temple of Athena, visit to Villa d’Este, guided walking tour of Florence and Rome (with skip-the-line tickets).  Personalized additions either before or after the noted itinerary are possible and gladly accommodated for additional costs.

Not included: airfare, airport transfers, tips, meals and activity costs other than those noted, “optional” activities, travel insurance.
